There’s a research article I wanted to share with you.
But I can’t.
The article title: “When Science Becomes Too Easy: Science popularization inclines laypeople to underrate their dependence on experts.”
The journal: Public Understanding of Science.
Sage, the journal’s publisher, has put this article behind a paywall.
You can download it — for $36.
I searched for free ways to access it, including emailing the author. But the link on her site to request a copy for personal use was broken.
I gave up my search after an hour.
You have to hand it to the authors.
They practice what they preach.
P.S.: To go deeper on this issue, see this Nature interview with Nobel laureate Randy Schekman on the open access journal eLife he founded and the future of scientific publishing.
